Conflicted - the Town Hall Gallery Hawthorn

Conflicted: Adversaries in Art

Start:       Tuesday 21 April 2015
End:         Sunday 31 May 2015
Venue:     Galleries 1,2 & 3

Conflicted is an exploration of ways in which art looks into the difficult relationship between art and war.  Delving deeply into the nature of conflict and what lies at the heart of the human propensity to battle, the exhibition promises to take a sweeping view into what is a complex concern for all of humanity.
At a time of reflection on the centenary anniversary of Gallipoli, Conflicted offers a blend of historical and contemporary investigations into the very idea of conflict.  The ways in which we understand adversarial relationships, the nature of competition and battle ingrained from our childhood, and how art is used to examine such ideas is put under the microscope.

Artists include:  Kieran Boland, Juan Ford, Siri Hayes, Slow Art Collective, Michael Peck, Mathew Greentree and Connor Grogan (representatives of International Airspace Operations).  Also featuring works from the Town Hall Gallery Collection.
